All New 2017 Camaro
Although the 2017 Camaro isn't on offer quite yet, a VIN card that appeared on the fan site Camaro5 has revealed GM's future engine plans. All the usually suspects appear on the 2017 model year card, from the Camaro's standard 3.6L V6 engine all the way up to the ZL1's 580 horsepower 6.2L V8, with the exception of engine type E.
Engine type E is listed as GM's LS7 V8 engine, which is currently used in the Corvette Z06 and has never been offered in a road-legal Camaro. Under the hood of the Z06, the LS7 develops 505 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque.
Interestingly, the VIN card doesn't indicate any new Camaro models for the 2017 model year, such as the long-rumored Z28, indicating the LS7 could be stuffed between the fenders of one of the current Camaro models. However, we can't totally rule out that some kind of special model is under development.
The official start of the 2017 model is likely at least 6 months out, but we'll be sure to keep you updated with all the latest developments.
